I’d rather be skiing … so I am!
Towards the end of 2017, I set a goal for myself to schedule more time for me, with friends and family, and not leave it to chance. So today, I’m skiing with one of my dear friends, and tomorrow I’ll be at my desk happily working away while my thighs knit themselves back together.
Let’s all have more ski days this year!
Okay, now the confession. Today (yesterday by the time you read this), I actually waffled. I felt guilt. I felt a sense of obligation to come to work and not go skiing. I felt like I should cancel, be responsible and go to work.
I reminded myself of my why.
When I set this goal, I was burned out. I said, “I can’t let myself get burned out again.” I told myself that when I’m burned out, I don’t love my job like I should.
Getting burned out is like getting thirsty. By the time you are thirsty, it’s too late. Conversely, when you drink water constantly, you will never feel like you need a drink of water, but that isn’t reason enough to skip one.
Same thing with ski days. I don’t feel like I need one tomorrow, which is a good sign. It means I am drinking (skiing) enough. Same thing goes for time with your kids, your spouse or your soul. Don’t wait till you need one.
It’s the first week of this new year. Start right.
If you really don’t know where to start or what to do, let me make that really easy for you.
Send an email here [email protected] and we can talk about it.
Nice to have you back.
Happy New Year.
