“Often we come home from a sharing session with a feeling that something precious has been taken away from us or that holy ground has been trodden upon.” – Henri J.M. Nouwen
Today’s thoughts are for my introverted brothers and sisters. The world is made up of all sorts of people, which is one of the reasons it is both weird and wonderful.
There are obvious things that make us different, but then there are the not-so-obvious. A not-so-obvious one is the real and inherent difference between introverts and extroverts. The stereotypes and generalizations about these two types of personalities are muddled and confused at best. As a dyed-in-the-wool introvert, I thought I would take the opportunity to set the record straight about the introverted side of the fence to help all you extroverts out there understand us a bit more.
My daughter recently sent me this: http://m.atchuup.com/how-to-understand-introverted-people/. Have chuckle. If you want to get into it a bit more, I recommend this excellent book: Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking.
If you are an extrovert, go find an introvert and try your new-found approach on them just to see what happens. If you an introvert, it is okay! You have an important place and role to play in the world. And stop trying to be something you are not.
