Today’s question is this: Are you doing anything with these suggestions I’ve been making? You’ll notice none of them have been asking for you to work harder. They are more about increasing your focus on certain things, to let some other things go, and to shift your attitude.

So to summarize:
- Set more ambitious goals. Just one or two, for the year. Set out to accomplish some things that take a month or more. Redefine your customer experience, your purpose, design a great event …
- Shut down the digital distraction until you’re ready for it. I never email in the morning. I get creative and create in the morning. Later, around 11, I deal with email. When I’m working, I shut down all the chimes and dings and other distractions that interfere with my thinking.
- Reward yourself. Design a great life. Block off holidays and block off little breaks during your day. Being tired is like being thirsty – once you’re thirsty, it’s too late. When you say “I need a break,” you probably really need one. Take a break before you need it, just when you appreciate it.
